- What The Different Stats Do.
- Life Points (LP)
Life Points are a measure of your characters ability to survive. Having many of these particular points means you'll survive for quite a great deal of time. They can be lost though, but don't fret they can also be replenished. When fights occur randomly, enemies naturally attack. Attacks do numerical damage which is subtracted from LP. When a character has no LP left they faint. Fainting is a bad thing, if a fainted character doesn't get revived soon they may die. Determining when they die is based on the Life Counter. If a character dies then they can either make a new character, or they can be moody because their character got killed. More than likely in worst case scenarios players get upset because a character they've played with for a long while ends up being killed. An upset player is not something any DM wants to keep around. We here at Gate X to keep up with the DM Corporation would like to say this in respects:
If you are upset because your character died please do not take it out on the DM or other players. Remember it's just a game and it's no reason to get upset. The DM can't help it that the monsters just got to your character and your character couldn't endure. That was just rolls of the dice and your character was the one that got hit. Things like that happen and guess what they're supposed to. Keep in mind that aside from helping you out most of the time, Playing all the NPC's in the game, coming up with riddles and mazes and dungeons for characters to get through, The DM's other dark sided job is to kill you, with monsters he makes of course. That's his job and if your "good" character dies from it, then apparently the DM was doing his job. On a more important note:
1.It's just a game remember that.
2.If the DM suspects players dislike him/her and are causing problems then the DM can kick them out. If other players leave because of that oh well, take it that they weren't very good friends anyway.
3.If players suspect that the DM is cheating or, out to get you, then leave. This does happen more often than not. Some DM's just get on a power trip and cheat on every roll of the dice. like said in #1 it's just a game, leave if you want. I can vouche for cheating DM's because I particullarly have done it myself. However, the few times that I have it was in favor of the players. Despite that fact it still makes me a bad DM. Any kind of cheating is cheating, and it doesn't make the game any more fun to cheat for or against anyone.
- Magic Points
Magic Points are a value of your characters ability to perform overkill, I mean cast magic spells or skills. Magic is naturally powerful. It is used to harm and help in some cases. Unfortunately, in the real world Magic doesn't exist in an extremely powerful source. Granted their is some but I have yet to see anyone through a fireball down mainstreet. At least not with out the help of some gas and other ignitable items. But that's science not magic. Magic is in games however. Quite frequently in fact. The one thing that I've always wondered is why casting spells in some video game RPG's that take over the whole screen doesn't do damage to your characters. I'm glad that they don't. If you don't have any MP your character can't overkill, I mean cast magic spells or skills.
- Life Counter(LC)
The Life Counter is a measure of how long your character can survive wounded. Fainting period will cause the Life Counter to react. Even if your fainted and then revived and healed, you are still mortally wounded and need help. You won't survive on your own in this game. You have to rely on friends and sometimes enemies to keep your life in tact. The scope of this game is friendship and love. Yeah, I know it sounds corny but get over it, love is great. You'll never know who your enemies are until you make them. It wouldn't be surprising to me to go through an entire role play session and not get into any fights. In fact it's happened more than once. In fact my game is set up to make it that way. The monsters in my game don't attack the PC's unless the PC's are being mean to anyone of the NPC's or other PC's. Monsters have also been known to attack in the middle of nowhere beat the *&%^ out of the PC's and before killing them, the monsters up and leave. Back on track, The DM descretion rule is used along with the Life Counter. DM discretion is a rule in all RPG's. Basically it means everything about your character from here on in is in the DM's hands. The DM will decide how fatal your wound is depending on what you were attacked with, and how long you stayed fainted. After determining the seriousness of the injury the DM chooses a dice value to coincide with it, as well as an interval of time. The DM counts down and upon reaching the different choosen intervals the DM rolls the dice they choose. The character then subtracts this value from his life counter. If the life counter reaches zero then your character will go poof. Funeral services will be held and Me as the DM and webdesigner will put up the aubituaries page. But don't go crying yet. Dying at least in my game is good sometimes. You can make another character if you want. Or you can keep the dead one for a while longer. If enough people cared for you in the game to come to your funeral then your character may have a chance of finding their way back to the mortal coil. And much stronger as well. This is where the love factor comes in. In my game making friends is the best thing you can do. If Fate sees it fit to send you back your in for a treat. Fate is Hope's sister and Fate also owns a little item called an Eternity Rune. The one Fate has is the Rune of Hope. This little item releases power based on the amount of love directed twords a person. If the amount is great enough your character can come back to the mortal coil. with power multiplied by the same power inside the Rune of Hope due to some residual effects! You may want to treat your familiars real nice too. They're love alone for you is enough to bring you back and multiply your power by ten fold! That is if they really care for you.
- Stat Points(SP)
Stat Points are earned through fighting. Winning battles and defeating your enemies earns Experience. every 1000 experience points a stat point is earned. You use these stat points to increase the value of your bases. Upon leveling up the value in the base is added to the initial stat making a new value for that particular stat.
- Experience Points(Exp)
Experience Points are earned through fighting. Every 1000 earned nets that character a stat point. And Every 10,000 Experienc Points a level is gained.
- Level
Every 10,000 experience points a level is gained. Gaining levels is how you become stronger. Upon leveling up a character takes whatever bases they have for the category that leveled up and adds them to the stats current value thus equating to a new value which stays the same until the character levels up again.
- Bases LP, MP, LC
Bases are added to stats upon leveling up. Bases are increased with stat points. Whatever the value of the base is upon earning 10,000 experience goes into the corresponding stat. This is before the base is added to by any additional Stat Points. As soon as 10,000 Experience Points are earned the bases transfer over to the corresponding stat. Even if it's during the middle of a fight.
